Tension headaches are the most common form of headache. There is usually pain on both sides of the head, with a sensation of tightening or built up pressure, and can range from a dull ache to worse than a migraine.
WHY DO THEY HAPPEN❓
Either due to emotional or physical tension, or both, tension headaches are the result of painfully tight neck and jaw muscles which radiates up through the muscles covering the skull.
HOW TO STOP THEM FROM HAPPENING❓
STRETCH! 🙋 And keep moving, roll your shoulders, shrug, bob your head, etc to maintain your range of motion and stay hydrated 💧 Remember to maintain good posture. All of these are especially important if you are sitting at a desk all day.
If you DO find yourself with a headache, stretching can increase the tension so be very careful. The best thing to do is to give yourself a nice neck, jaw and scalp massage…or even better, get someone else to do it for you! 😜
